  1. Hi Manolo,

As for Blog@AWBHoldings’ asessment of The Explainer, I agree about the timeslot of the repeat. If only they could air it sometime in the mornings or early afternoons. Besides, there may be some schools that could show the repeats in some classerooms.

As for the 6pm, I’m still often stuck in traffic at that time. I caught one show about the strife in the Middle East — excellent!

    Thanks,

    Eric aka Senor Enrique

  2. On the astroturf article.

Astroturf is the term used for fake grassroots support. It traces its origins to fake grass that became popular in American football and baseball stadiums sveral decades back.

Astroturf is the Singaw ng Bangaw people’s initiative. To use inudoro ni Emilie’s wonderful pun, astro turf is being used to replace the olligarchy with an hellogarci. New faces in old feces, to rephrase another of inudoro’s great puns.

  3. Interesting thing about the McRules…I was also working on something similar that’s related to my job (but I haven’t the time to complete it…blame it on changing schedules)

  4. I would like to COMMEND Senator Magsaysay for DOING the FILIPINOS a GREAT FAVOR. BOLANTE is an EPITOMY of WHAT GMA is … THANK GOD there are still HONEST, UNCORRUPT Leaders WHO IS WILLING TO GIVE US A GREAT LEGACY … LONG LIVE THE SENATE you are OUR LAST HOPE for a REAL DEMOCRACY … You can see the DIFFERENCE when we compare the two HOUSES, the LOWER has a LOT OF MONEY-MAKING, CORRUPT who ONLY BRAGS about their numbers – NAJORITY of our CONGRESSMEN are UNPATRIOTIC, TRAPO’s who LIKE THEIR DONYA is all GARBAGE !!!

  5. DATUMANONG, NOGRALES, MACARAMBON – LET’s REMEMBER THIS IDIOTS, THEY WHO REPRESENTS “NOT” THE PEOPLE BUT GLORIA

  6. ELECTION 2007 – MARK THIS DAY, THIS IS THE DAY OF CLEANSING … Lets GET RID of ALL-TRAPO’s – Let’s GET RID OF ALL PRO-GLORIA !!!

  7. I like the attitude of the observer, Yung iba kasi akala wala ng mangyayari sa eleksyon at lutong Macao na,pero lalong mas walang mangyayari kung di tayo boboto.

Like the impeachment kesyo wala na daw mangyayari dahil luto na
pero that does not mean that you drop dead. Kung di ngayon e di Next year na mukhang mas maganda ang lagay ng impeachment,so let’s vote and guard our votes!

before that register nga pala muna to double check kung di pa nawawala ang records mo.

  8. Thanks KARL, HABANG MAY BUHAY – MAY PAGASA … The YOUTH is our HOPE !!! as long as we are GUIDED on the right track.

  9. karl you should be commended too. been in this blog for some time now and you definitely make a lot of sense to me….at well behave pa at that. keep it up, man!

  11. It is an open fact that the dictatorial regimes in Iran and Syria are the main sponsors of the Hezbullah terrorist gang in Lebanon. Such despotic regimes have cooperated in training and backing-up such terrorist gang which has undermined and weakened the sovereignty of the Lebanese state and, obviously, is right now threatening to destroy Israel’s own national sovereignty. Israel was recreated in the 1940s by the properly-civilized international community as a legitimate nation in accordance with international laws and principles. So, it seems that the dictatorial regimes in Iran and Syria are not observing international laws and principles by backing-up a terrorist gang which has a clear intention of destroying the state of Israel. With such policy, the dictatorial regimes in Iran and Syria have become “actual aggressors” working for the destruction of the sovereignty of the state of Israel. Hence, the dictatorial regimes of Iran and Syria are clear violators of interntaional laws and principles. The U.N. Org must now impose further punitive actions against the dictatorial regimes of Iran and Syria for being aggressor-states against the sovereignty of both Lebanon and Israel. The wise citizens of this world must peacefully and lawfully pressure and urge the U.N. Org to impose tough and punitive sanctions against the dictatorships of Iran and Syria for supporting the inhumane terrorist actions of both the Hizbullahs and the Hamas all over the Middle East region. The dictators of Iran and Syria are real aggressors in today’s world.

Sometimes I wonder why the U.N. Administration doesn’t impose punitive sanctions nor make condemnations against dictatorships which do obvious crimes against many countries of this world. Such dictatorships are aggressor-governments which commit various crimes against humanity. The U.N. Org should promote real and global democracy, that is through peaceful and lawful means, to every social organization, every country and every culture in this world. Such is one of the ideals of “political abrogationism”. The readers of this message can know more about political abrogationism by just “typing” the word “political abrogationism” at any internet search box that is available right now. In simple words, political abrogationism wants to peacefully and legally abolish all types of dictatorships, monarchial reigns and despotic regimes all over this planet, so that this world can gain real, global and moral democracy. Support political abrogationism now!

  12. i think the simplest way to say it is….

i want to vote for mlq for president, i want my vote to be counted as ONE VOTE

i may vote for bunye as my representative, hoping that he will in turn vote for mlq a prime minister. however, i don’t even know what bunye will do after winning the seat in the parliament. meantime, my ultimate goal for voting bunye is for mlq to be the prime minister which is now hanging in the air and i have no CONTROL at this point.

i am sure that DIRECT VOTING ( as in presidential form) will always be favored by filipinos. in a way RP is even better ( more advance i may say) than USA in terms of presidential election because we have a popular vote instead of their electoral vote

  13. well, bunye may even vote for palparan as prime minister, harharhar!

bottom line, i want to be directly involved in choosing the leader of the phillipines. I DON’T WANT TO DELEGATE MY RIGHT TO VOTE.

  14. Rummel Pinera,

You may wish to read Randy David’s article on the Hizbollah. You can find it in the Inquirer7 website.

  15. that’s one thing i don’t agree with randy david. Hezbollah, like Hamas was formed to elliminate Israel…that’s their ultimate goal. their other activities in my view are fronts and just for publicity ….papogi ika nga tapos giera na naman kapag naka recover sa sugat. they don’t really care about civilians. what’s with suicide bombings in discos, their arm cache among civilians and mosques?

  16. I read your article today on your criticism on Isagani Cruz. I am posting my comment here because this is your most recent article and by posting here, the message will catch your attention.

You wrote on the article that, “I will respect anyone’s convictions, but only to the extent you will respect mine. Goodwill inspires the same; tolerance results in cooperation.” But I find this statement as self-serving. You yourself is guilty of not respecting viewpoints that are different from yours.

Your past blogs were used to ridicule a proponent of Charter Change. Ridicule is a form of suppression; it suppresses the idea by attacking the person and not the idea.

Your readers, including me, deserve a more honest writing. We deserve that you reveal to us your prejudices, unless you fantasize of becoming a pied piper for us to follow.

You want people to be tolerant. People would then expect you to be more tolerant and be more faithful in your criticisms and not sweeping away ideas through ridicule.

  17. ridicule is a legitimate form of criticism, particularly of views that grant neither sincerity nor convinction to those upholding them. look at the blanket condemnations made by those who push for charter change to the extent that they will grant neither sincerity nor conviction to those who oppose them, and you’ll see why i ridicule them. go through what i’ve written and you will see i have done my best to achieve a rational discussion. but then go through the chronology, too, and see how their responses have been.

as with isagani cruz, so with anyone else: slander the holder of an idea and you deserve to be criticized.

    Arikasikis said:
“But I find this statement as self-serving. You yourself is guilty of not respecting viewpoints that are different from yours. ”
    Arikasikis,

How can asking for respect to be given to him and those like him be self serving?
Respecting a conviction may or may not involve agreeing or total subservience to that conviction.
And having your own conviction that is totally different from another’s conviction, does not necessarily mean that you do not respect others.
With all due respect to your observation,
That is my humble observation of your observation.

  19. Isagani cruz column is definitely the worst form of bigotry that should never be allowed or tolerated in a decent and civil society….

MLQs reaction through his column today is just a right way to protest such bigotry….same way with his criticism to charter change proponents….

  20. I have always looked up at isagani cruz but his column this sunday was a bit off-tracked, IF I may eb so bold to say so.

It is good he has ‘macho’ sons …..

ut what if….WHAT IF fate strike a joke on him and give him a string of lesbian ‘apos’? Would he say the same lines to them as well?

    I wonder….

  21. Your article “Don We Now Our Gay Apparel” is probably the most misinformed, misguided, hate-filled, hypocritical, bigoted essay I have ever read in my life. I wish this man many lesbian and gay descendants to dance the chacha in pink dresses on his grave.

There really is no explanation for such anger. It’s obvious that he feels personally threatened by gays, quite ironic for such a supposedly macho man.

I feel sorry for him and for the Inquirer for having to print such a vile piece of work.

  22. couldn’t find your email where to send comments on your column… but i stumbled upon this. On the grand inquisitor: bravo. A very succint and proper reply to bigots!

  23. tolerance according to arikasikis
i think i can agree with arikasikis’ observation. i made known my observation that some pages in this blog(bastusan na) , to me should not have come from someone with the stature of mlq. in fact i thought that page is a hate campaign blog . now mlq is seeing shadow of himself in the mirror or in isagani cruz’s writing.

  24. Initially, I thought the Inquirer should be critcized for publishing Isagani Cruz’ article. It’s very hateful. Why condemn gays working in salons? They’re doing honest jobs. He should reserve his condemnation to the vile and corrupt (whatever their gender)who are the real threats to our society. I suppose the editor was put in a very difficult position. He might be accused of censorsip if he/she didn’t publish it. Thank you Mr. Quezon for writing your reply.

  25. Thank you, Manolo, for challenging Cruz’s bigotry, ignorance, and hate. I simply don’t understand how people who claim to follow or espouse Christ’s teachings can justify hating other people because of who they love. There’s so much I would want to tell Cruz and others who think like him, but you already did so quite eloquently (and I couldn’t have done any better).I always think: when people claim to speak for God, does God shake His (or Her) head and wonder why they can’t simply shut up and listen more carefully instead?

  26. I have no problem with Manolo’s reply to Justice Cruz’s column.

However, I always believe that respect for others’ opinions must be unconditional. I’ll still respect your opinion even if you don’t respect mine, because to do otherwise would be going down to your low level. To say that I will respect your opinion to the extent that you will respect mine bespeaks lack of sincerity.

  27. respect for opinion should never be absolutely unconditional. extremism and fundamentalism SHOULD NEVER be tolerated.
