#ProyektoPilipino ep. 58: Literacy and Democracy

Paano maging responsableng consumer ng media? Think before you click.”

According to statistics, almost 80% of Filipinos get their news and information from Facebook. While the online space has made information more democratic, has it challenged our literacy and critical thinking? How do we conduct media literacy education now that the media landscape has changed drastically?

In this episode, Fr. Tito Caluag and his trio of distinguished thinkers—Manolo Quezon, Leloy Claudio, and Carlo Santiago—talk to “Tech Tito” Mon Isberto, Benjamin Custodio, and Vladimir Domopoy, who have been working on a pilot program of media literacy for the youth. Their goal is to engage the whole community so that education starts at home, holistically, as early as possible.

“Critical thinking is key; kailangan binubusisi natin lahat. Hindi pwedeng nagme-memorize lang, dapat nag-iisip at nagtatanong tayo.”
