The real news today is the latest addition to Sec. Leandro Mendoza’s empire in the Department of Transportation and Communications: as this Tribune story indicates, Mendoza, who does not enjoy the reputation of being a nice guy, to put it mildly, among some media people in the know, and who has been bruited-about as the designated commander of the President’s anti-coup task force, has been given control over the National Telecommunications Commission. In effect this gives Mendoza purview over essential installations, ranging from seaports to airports, the Coast Guard, telegraph, wireless, and telephone communications, and radio and TV. Just the sort of things you want your designated muscle to have authority over.
Cause and effect department: Bishop Teodoro Bacani blasts the government; Brother Mike Velarde of El Shaddai expresses displeasure with the government; the Palace backpedals on rally policies (Dean Jorge Bocobo may be right on the money: the Palace has blinked, and might be better off beating a strategic retreat). But never mind, Bel Cunanan continues to chirp a happy tune.

Curiously enough, it seems Remulla is being given the runaround by the Department of Foreign Affairs. A query was sent to the Argentinian government, but it seems none was sent to the Brazilian government. No effort has been made to communicate with Remulla about the results of their queries, or if the queries were even made.

Another media person at the cutting edge of everything is iBlog: podcasting, vidcasting, blogging, he’s done it all, and extremely well. TV anchors have a model for blogging in The Daily Nightly. For all things aesthetic, Kottke.org is always choc-full-o-fun. For all things movie and TV related, there’s The Rocketboy Chronicles (for the best guilt-inducing Celebrity trash, there’s Conversations with Famous People). For everything cultural, both highbrow and pop, there’s Walk this Way. For everything food-related, there’s Market Manila. Travel-related? Check out FriskoDude. and After a long hiatus, Cogito Ergo Sam has returned as a consistently good read. The best Filipino humorist on line remains Kwentong Tambay.

Was Estrada removed constitutionally?
When lawyer Alan Paguia said Estrada was removed unconstitutionally, he was disbarred by the Supreme Court (SC).
Now, it seems people have come to their senses  they are coming to the same conclusion or are at least, asking the question.
The breakdown in social and political disorder of the magnitude we see today started from the day the Constitution was breached by the very people who were supposed to uphold it for the common “tao† President Estrada is almost incidental.
What the justices of SC, the Vice President (Gloria at the time), the generals, the legislature and the civil society did  the manipulating and the plotting by a few from these institutions to bring down the presidency, no matter who he was or how he behaved with women, without due process of law  is totally unacceptable. That they should try the President and send him to the gallows if found guilty â€â€without shortcircuiting the Constitution  would have been the right and the only moral thing to do.
It’s never too late for a nation to rectify a collective moral and legal wrong.
MEMBERS of the Black & White Movement are putting their heads together at this very minute, trying to reach a concensus on the best post-GMA option to push for. The 300 or so participants at today’s assembly taking place at the Ateneo High School covered courts have broken up into 15 workshop groups to discuss the possible scenarios presented by various speakers:
I see that Ateneo is using school property and school funds to try and unseat a President..
Unless all the Parents have agreed to fund this i think it is unethical, But then again lets look at the catholic schools now, PAY for a degree, Pay for a basketball spot….
I will not be hiring from Ateneo, DLSU,or UP ever again, the employees from there have never performed well in a working environment anyway.

La salle made a mistake of offereing their facilities to bukluran then & if i’m not wrong the parents protested why school facilities are used for non academic matters.

Watching the news w/ media people interviewing the clows makes me wounder why media people never ask the right question such as.why can’t they wait for a year to pass & bring out their issues?Why is it that they are so in a hurry of not lossing momentum?Why even form anything that has no bases in the constitution?
It seems that media people only enjoy the “power” & the “perks” that come w/ the title but never the responsibility & fairness.They would be confrontational w/ the administration but keep quit & just let anyone opposing the administration talk.Don’t get me wrong.I’m for fairness & objectivity.
The Senate seems to be going through withdrawal symtoms.Since they can’t pratice their obsession of in “aid of distabilization”.Now they are making an investigation of THE OWN E-VAT LAW they passed!!!
Thje 13th Senate has passed only 4 Laws since July 2004!
