Bert’s inclination to “…convict …just to highlight lesson to potential troublemaker” is similar to most blogger-Filipinos’ attitude about BJE-MoA : legal and constitutional technicalities much less important than to impeach and remove from office in order to send the message to future politicians that the hint of election-cheating will not be tolerated.

and if JSR will be sentenced as a youth offender he will get no more than 7 years and not more than 4 years to serve in custody the rest in community service and since he already serve 3 years in pre-trial custody he will only be serving 1 more year. and very seldom a youth is sentenced as an Adult. the judge will decide on this case, not the Jury.

very emotional case, Bert, the defence lawyer just broke down and cried as the convicted felon was just a teen-ager when the crime was committed. and even the presiding judge was taken aback, he expected maybe conviction on assault and possession, but not on murder, but nobody will know. It took the jury four days of deliberation to come with the verdict. and there are nine more cases to be tried by different set of juries. I can only commend the efforts put in by the police and the crown attorneys in these cases.

I believe that in a society that carrying firearms are not even allowed, a shootout in a very busy downtown streets without regards for the safety of the innocent public merit the heavier hands of the Law.

Off topic but very interesting case study for the legal minds.

a very interesting case study that even the best legal minds in this country are split. the case involved the conviction of the first of at least a dozen cases to go before the Jury of a man (can not be id because at commission he was only 17 now 20) for participating in a shootout that killed an innocent 15 year bystander. The Crown argued that although the accused didn’t fire the fatal shop being a participant in a shootout, in a public places is akin to a both parties drug racing whereby one causes a fatality and both are liable. the defense did not offer any defense relying on the weakness of the crown case.

Just like hundreds of sports celebrities or thousands of them, from NBA stars, to boxing, to NFL, to baseball, who not only made name for themselves but fortune, it is indeed something to emulate…But there are only enough room for the very Select few, and in the case of Pacquiao, a singular one out of 90 millions, so I bet my all in good Education for the Youth of today, proper upbringing as not all or not a few could be a Pacquiao of tomorrow.
