can't we just apply china's one country two systems policy? at least, in this case, they could represent their state in olympics, pageants, educational co,petition...they would have also their unit of currency, their stock market and economy...but not army...they will remain part of the philippine soil after all

I am Christian student here in Marawi City. I am spending my time here with my co-majors which I'm happy to behold that they are gregarious. To the people who refer the MILF as a Muslims is a discouraging one because the term MUSLIM, only those who adhere the teaching of Islam and following the 5 pillars of the said religion. And when you say ISLAM that means "peace". There's no such teaching in Islam that killing is tolerable.

Let's not be narrow-minded. We can't blame them.

claymore,

I'm 5/5 with you on the MILF, as well as on the other issues you raised.

inodoro ni emilie,

Muslims and Christians generally get along well within provinces. Trouble starts only when players criss-cross provincial boundaries. This is federalism for you. It will create a Muslim state in Mindanao. Would you approve of a theocratic state anywhere in the world? The alternative is a stronger local government code to to directly help provinces and cities. No need for costly and cumbersome states. No need for cha-cha.

all you intellectual masturbators in here, come over to mindanao to feel the pulse of the people here: pinaglalaruan lang ng gobyerno ang peace process para isulong ang pangsariling agenda. punta muna kayo dito bago humirit.

am all for federalism. only that you dont dangle that item as mere appetizer in a self-serving dinner plate. mabulunan sana ang sobrang ganid. di ba nag ka stomach problem na naman siya--takaw kasi.

Marcelo, as they say, <i>just because you're paranoid does not mean their not out to get you</i>. And remember what Andy Grove (of Intel) said, <i>"Only the paranoid survive"</i>.

My goodness. How many conspiracy theories can we spin out of our sad Mindanao problem? Maybe we should throw in the old dream of an Islamic Caliphate and another attempt by Dai-Nippon (no other major economy would be more menaced by oil disruptions in Southeast Asia than Japan) to create a Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Oh, and let's not forget Indonesia and its former Pan-Malayan aspirations (why leave all the fun to Kuala Lumpur?). While we're at it, don't forget the nefarious designs of AQ & JI & ASG (unless you consider the last one a sinister creation of GRP). And then India can come in and fish in our troubled waters, creating another front to contain China and twit America (or should it be the other way around?).

Good grief. The foreign policy wonks overseas must be shaking their heads.

"cleansing operations" ... Government troops also disarmed an IED planted near a school in North Cotabato, where fresh fighting between security and Muslim rebel forces erupted on Friday.

A school!!!! the MILF bombs their own.
