Predicting a magical transformation

The papers continue to focus on the recent operation of the President’s husband.In the punditocracy, Bong Austero writes on Sonia Roco losing some votes due to a remark she made using an Autism analogy.  Austero closes with the pointed comment that, which on the face of it, seems to be true (I could quibble with it, but I won’t).  But his column does bring to mind a recent blog entry in History Unfolding.

The changing landscape

The papers all headlined the surgery that the President’s husband underwent, which by all accounts was a serious operation, indeed.  For details on what happened to him, read these articles in the US National Institute of Health and from the Mayo Clinic, and take a look at the nifty pictures in Wikipedia.

Gas attack

An attack of gas hospitalized the President’s husband and in turn, kept her from the Bataan Day commemoration.  Ramon Farolan has a nice column on the fall of Bataan.  The Philippines Free Press blog has some oldie but goodie readings: False rumors and false hopes, on the rumors that gripped the populace in the early months of the war; the poignant I saw the Death March; and World War II in the Philippines, which puts it all in perspective.

Only the banana has a heart

The exodus to the countryside has begun, and anyone left in metropolitan areas is distracted and not focused on anything to do with current events….  The week before, the week of, and the week after, Holy Week, very little, if at all, gets done….  Over in the Inquirer Current blog, my entry is on the great debates that have surrounded the choice for the date of Easter.
