the senate would be a more exciting battleground for the impeachment proceedings, if it ever gets there.

granting that 79 votes will be reached (and as the days progress this becomes a fading possibility), i doubt that the plenary would let it pass through its doors without a fight. manny villar was only able to do it before since he also actively pushed for the impeachment. since JDV wants the impeachment measure to pass as a goodwill sign for GMA so she can push for charter change, you’re right in saying that a future threat of impeachment next year may be improbable, given the lakas-kampi non-cooperation.

In our righteous anger, we should not be hasty. I am sure there is some wisdom in this brouhaha. It exposed the opposition to be no better than Gloria. They’re just as scheming and power-hungry and I am quite certain they would have cheated and lied if they were in Gloria’s shoes. That ex-Secretary Soliman is just the latest in a long line of do-gooder types who, once propelled to the heights of power, turn out to be reptilian. The opposition in Congress, as we all know, is just one side of the same filthy coin. I think we would be politically mature if we just admit that our leadership pool does not provide any bigger alternative to Gloria and we would be wiser to bite the bullet while she has not vacated the post.

We need to act now. We can no longer “sit and wait”. We are not weak and unable to fight. We can do something in our own little ways.

We are not teaching the children the right values if we retain a person who lied, cheated, and stolen to get to the top.

Marcos did not kill the LP and NP and tradpol, because tradpol is still here. It doesn’t have to return, as it had never went away.

After a long time keeping himself scarce, FVR suddenly surfaces for a soundbite at ABS-CBN reminding Arroyo that the impeachment game’s not yet done since there’s still the plenary. Sounds like a thinly-disguised warning, eh? “Show us what we want or the impeachment complaint gets fast-tracked to the Senate?”

I am still hoping that the impeachment proceedings will push through. Call me delusional but that’s what I think. Otherwise, the president has no choice but to exit gracefully through a Charter Change. I don’t think that GMA still has a chance to finish her full 6-year term in the palace.

fast fact: times the word "scuttlebutt" was utilized in the post - 9 times kuya manolo me thinks SALPAKAN would have been a better choice of title here (referring to the root pinoy name of the game "Games Of The General")...the most interesting rule on the game is the ability of the private "piece" - can be eliminated by all except the spy piece (can eliminate all including the all powerful 5 star general) and the flag itself...now who would be the private, spy and flag in this matter...bahala na kayo
